LMNOP Colorado By David Barber Nina Storey, "Shades", Red Lady Music Publishing We've been struggling to review this CD for a few weeks now. It's just too good! Where do you find words for something better than anything you can describe? We'll start with the basics: 12 songs, over 50 minutes, full lyrics in the liner along with some fun pics of Nina. Backing musicians on this CD are: Randy Hall, Mel Brown, Kennedy James, Mike Boylston, Robert Irving, Jeremy Lawton, Christian Tiel, Wes Makey, Larry Clark, and Coco & Yvonne Brown. This is Nina's third CD and certainly her best. The quality of both Nina's vocals and the production are outstanding. No local band has self produced a CD of this caliber, ever. We've watched Nina's career since her first Wednesday night show at Herman's several years ago, when she blew us away and we immediately bought her first CD "Guilt and Honey." Since then, she's become a more confident and engaging performer who pretty much blows every crowd away. We just don't understand why she hasn't been snatched up by the greedy record company monsters yet. On "Shades" Nina matures into a force the recording industry will have to deal with. She rocks hard, sings soft and sweet, and exercises her full vocal range as she dives into bluesy torch songs and dabbles around the edges of jazz. Sooner or later Nina will take the world by storm, we can't wait to hear it! At $15.00 each "Shades is a bit more expensive than most local CD's, (especially when you buy 5 of them, like we did) but it is well worth the price. |
